Technical Paper Submissions
Author's Kit

Steps for Paper Submission to
OCEANS 2005 MTS/IEEE

1) Confirm your receipt of the acceptance e-mail by clicking on the web site identified within the acceptance e-mail.

2) Compose your manuscript. The paper should not exceed 8 pages. The paper must be in US letter size, 8 ½ by 11 inches. Please do not include any blank page at the end of the paper.

3) Compose the paper in a two-column format using one of the Acceptable Composition Applications identified by IEEE PDF eXpress, as described in Step 5. We recommend using one of the two templates listed below:

NOTE: The Word Template has been modified for clarity to adhere to the 8 ½" x 11" format requirement. If you have already used the earlier version and uploaded your paper using that format, you do NOT need to revise your paper.

4) If your paper has a sponsor, ensure that the manuscript has been approved before submission. DO NOT send your manuscript if it is not 100% approved for release by the sponsor.

5) Familiarize yourself with Using IEEE PDF eXpress. IEEE PDF eXpress is an online tool that will convert your document into a PDF format that complies with IEEE Xplore®, a new OCEANS conference formatting convention. It also has other features that may be useful to you.

6) Log in to IEEE PDF eXpress. If you already have an account, you will need to create a new user account for this conference.

NOTE: The conference ID is oceansdc05.

For technical questions pertaining to the use of IEEE PDF eXpress, contact pdfsupport@ieee.org.

7) Following the instructions after logging in to IEEE PDF eXpress, create (or check) a PDF file of your paper. Once your paper is properly formatted, you will receive a certification in the form of an e-mail from PDF eXpress. When you store the certified PDF file on your computer, change the file name from the one given by IEEE eXpress to the abstract number cited in your acceptance e-mail followed by the pdf extension, e.g. "mmyydd-nn.pdf."

8) Fill in and sign the MTS Copyright Form, combine with the PDF certification obtained from PDF eXpress, and send both via surface mail, fax, or e-mail to (PDF document with signature required):

Via Surface Mail:

Via FAX:

Ms. Gail Badenhop

Via E-mail:

admin@oceans2005.org

Be sure to include your abstract number on this and any other correspondence.

9) Submit final IEEE Xplore®-compatible PDF(s) via the Abstract Administration page identified in your acceptance e-mail, using the login information listed within that e-mail.

The deadline for all submissions was 1 July 2005. Exceptions may be requested by contacting techprog@oceans2005.org. In NO case will papers be accepted after 18 July, at which time the database will be locked in order to finalize the program and produce the Proceedings. Allow time to familiarize yourself with the formatting (IEEE PDF eXpress) and uploading process (you are allowed up to three uploards).

Manuscripts sent via e-mail will not be processed.

Acknowledgment of our receipt of your paper will be sent to you by e-mail. Receipt of your manuscript by this Conference, together with the MTS Copyright Form and the IEEE PDF eXpress certification, constitutes release for open publication. No cancellation of such release is permissible.

10) Each paper submission must be accompanied by a registration of the principal author or a co-author for at least a one-day admission; it can be upgraded to a full registration at a later date. (Authors of multiple papers need only register once.) Any paper not accompanied by a registration will not appear in the conference proceedings and will be withdrawn from the technical program. The registration must be accomplished by 1 August 2005.

Conference Registration is now available. Register early for reduced rates.

If you have any questions about the paper submission process, please contact techprog@oceans2005.org.
